Celebrating a History of Growth of 40 Years – Shincheonji commemoration ceremony
Brisbane, Queensland Mar 20, 2024 (Issuewire.com) – On March 14th, Shincheonji held a commemoration ceremony to celebrate the 40th establishment anniversary at the Shincheonji Peace Training Center in Cheongpyeong, South Korea. Church members attended both on-site and online on live broadcast, with over 30,000 people gathering at the Peace Training Center. Attendees included representatives from Australia, New Zealand, Austria, and South Africa, among others.
Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (referred to in English as New Heaven New Earth) was founded on March 14th, 1984, in South Korea. Since then, it has steadily grown in South Korea and all around the world despite the atmosphere of global Christian stagnation.
Growing interest in understanding the Bible, finding purpose in life, and exploring spirituality, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, has attracted people from different backgrounds to join the Bible course taught by Zion Christian Mission Centre, the theological school of Shincheonji. Evidence of this growth is the 110th graduation ceremony in 2019 where 103,764 students graduated from their Bible school, opening the era of 100,000 graduates. Afterward, in 2022 and 2023, 106,186 and 108,084 students completed the Bible course, respectively, achieving the achievement of enrolling more than 100,000 students for two consecutive years.
Additionally, online Bible seminars have been hosted since the pandemic leading to numerous requests from churches around the world to learn the word. As a result, with the value of mutual growth through harmony with religious communities, an MOU for word exchange was signed with 443 churches in South Korea and 9,462 churches in 77 countries abroad. Afterward, 1,382 churches in 38 countries changed their signs to Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Moreover, Shincheonji Church of Jesus held a religious exchange program in South Korea with 80 leaders from around the world.
An official from Shincheonji Church of Jesus said, “As we prepared the event with an emphasis on safety and order, we feel rewarded for the smooth progress of the event.” He also said, “We would like to express our gratitude to the believers who actively participated in the guidance,” and added, “This year, we will establish ourselves as a church that sets an example for society and fulfills its social role as a church community, becoming a church that is light and salt.”
